KEYNOTE : On the Edge: The Art of High-Impact Leadership
Imagine yourself on the highest mountain in the world. You have to deal with the physiological effects of extreme altitude--along with bone-chilling temperatures, battering winds, and a climbing team that's counting on all of its members to make smart decisions. There's simply no room for poor judgment -- one mistake or misstep can result in an "unrecoverable error." In any situation where lives on are the line or the stakes are exceptionally high--there's no better training ground for leaders than settings where people are pushed beyond their perceived limits. Drawing on her experience as team captain of the first American Women's Everest Expedition, Alison Levine makes a compelling case that the leadership principles that apply in the world of extreme adventure also apply to today's rigorously competitive business environments.

A High-Speed Crash Course of Design Thinking
Have you said or have you ever heard these things uttered by members of leadership?

We need to make products that people love.
We should be thinking what could be possible with technology.
We need innovation to be pervasive.

Embracing design thinking helps us connect better with our customers, be better story tellers, and design better solutions.  This is a hands-on session that will take us through the full Stanford d.school Design Thinking Crash Course, a high-speed crash course.

By the end of the session, you'll have experienced the same design thinking approach made famous by IDEO, you'll walk away with some useful references, and hopefully, you'll be inspired to learn more about design thinking and look to make it a permanent part of how you work.

Systems Thinking for Transformative Change
Culture of an organization often gets blamed for lack of transformation success. This session takes a systems view to organization transformation. In organization systems, points of leverage are powerful because a small shift in one thing can produce big changes in everything. Consequently the higher the leverage point the more the system will resist changing it.

Direct attempts at changing organizational culture do not work, they lead to many haphazard attempts at behavior change but do not result in lasting transformation within organization. Many leaders attempt to shift organizational behavior and neglect underlying structures that give rise to dysfunctional behavior. We compare and contrast different systems leverage points, to draw distinction between leaders actions and more importantly mindset towards organizational transformation.

Introduction to various systems thinking models with colorful examples from real world coaching situations will help you to think through your transformation challenges and learn why culture change is free, when you replace willpower with knowledge.

Why Agile Transformations get Stuck
In this world of exponentially increasing market disruption, it is more imperative than ever for organizations to not only achieve operational agility (efficiency, speed, etc.), but also organizational agility (speed to respond to market change). Many companies are embarking on an Agile Transformation, but getting “lost in the desert” and not realizing the full agile benefits promised and needed.
Traditional Leadership Paradigms, Org. Structures, and Culture all get in the way, as too many companies focus on team level change and framework implementation (Scrum and SAFe). In this session, we will explore how leaders can guide their organizations past these barriers and accelerate the momentum towards true organizational agility.

KEYNOTE: From Operational to Strategic Agility
Agile management has become necessary to survive, but is it enough to thrive? Many organizations have embraced Agile management on the assumption that if they upgrade existing products and services through cost reductions, time savings or quality enhancements for existing customers (i.e. operational Agility), they will realize financial gains. Owing to increased competitive pressures, this assumption often proves incorrect and consequently top management support for Agile often flags. It turns out that major financial gains are more likely to come from Strategic Agility, i.e. generating innovations that create entirely new products and markets, and that turn non-customers into customers. Strategic Agility is the next frontier of Agile management. The profit margins are bigger, and the value to society is often larger. Drawing on his new book, The Age of Agile (Harper Collins, 2018) Steve will show what’s involved in achieving Strategic Agility, including a playbook for systematically generating market-creating innovations and the necessary shift in culture that is required.
